Best Lightroom workflow when using Imagen

Have you heard?? It’s the best thing for your workflow and Lightroom editing since sliced bread – so unless you’ve been hiding under a bush/huge editing pile (editing pile being more likely than a bush!), then you would have heard the buzz about Imagen technology! I even have a link so you can get an extra 500 edits on top of the 1000 offered – just head this way…

Now – these clever clever guys at Imagen (pronounced Imagine!!) have built an incredible AI (artificial intelligence – but not actually human looking robots don’t worry!) system to help you speed up your editing time exponentially! Now as you know I’m all about speeding up the time it takes to edit your images – less time at your desk and more time out shooting – YASSS please!

But hang on – you don’t even know where to begin after watching their fabulous ‘how to videos’ – well that’s because you haven’t set up a good workflow. Don’t even know where your Lightroom catalog is stored?? – don’t worry – it’s not just you, I’ve helped dozens of photographers become efficient and organised with their workflow. If Imagen is tempting you, let’s get that set up first….

I’ve written tips here about having a consistent Lightroom workflow and backup system – or just book onto an hours SHORTCUT SESSION and we’ll get that workflow nailed. Great for your and of course – your clients peace of mind.

Also – how is your editing style – is it consistent or over the place? If you really haven’t found your editing voice yet then I’d suggest using the free edits you receive when you sign up to try the different ‘creators’ they have on offer. If you are going to use the AI to learn your editing style then my advice would be to send a consistent preset/editing style over and it will then learn how you deal with troublesome images. You will need to upload a minimum of 5000 edited pictures for this.

You can then re-upload any changes and it will improve it’s learning on how you like to edit – scarily clever! I promise it’s really not scary human looking robots that are going to take over the world! Well not this year 😉

Once you are ready to send your images for editing then the best and simplest way this can be done is by doing an initial cull (doesn’t have to be the final FINAL cull – you just need to be cutting down the amount of images you are sending to edit) and then…

  • Upload your catalog containing the images you want to edit to Imagen.

  • Select the Folder you want to send the images from

  • Use the Image filter to select just 1 star images/flagged images (I teach my students to cull with a starred system).

  • Send – wait just MINUTES (in my experience although this is not promised and obviously depends on how many images you are sending) and you’ll have your edit back via email and the app.

  • Download and magically your AI edits are applied

  • You are ready for it’s final tweaks before sending to your client!

I am really enjoying using this new system – my face went from sceptical to surprised to thankful extremely quickly! Let’s enjoy our editing! Here’s that link to the extra 500 free edits again. Eddie x
